Install Skills in Claude Code

Follow this guide to install AI skills in Claude Code using the Skilz CLI

Before You Start

You'll need Python 3.10+ and pip installed on your computer. Most modern systems have these pre-installed.

To check: Run python3 --version in your terminal

Install the Skilz CLI

First, install the Skilz CLI tool. Open your terminal and run:

pip install skilz

This only needs to be done once

Find a Skill You Want

Browse our marketplace and click on any skill to view its details. Look for the "Installation" section on the skill page.

Example: On any skill page, you'll see:

skilz install anthropics_skills/canvas-design

Click the copy button to copy the install command

Run the Install Command

Open your terminal and paste the install command, then press Enter.

Ctrl+V or Cmd+V to paste
skilz install anthropics_skills/canvas-design

Press Enter to run the command

You're Done!

That's it! The skill is now installed in your ~/.claude/skills/ directory and is immediately ready to use in Claude Code.

Skill installed successfully!

Claude Code now has new capabilities. Try asking Claude about the topic the skill covers!

Pro Tips

  • Use skilz list to see all installed skills
  • Use skilz update to update all skills to latest versions
  • Use skilz remove skill-name to uninstall a skill
  • Higher-rated skills (green scores) are more reliable and well-maintained
